Umno-owned daily Utusan Malaysia has finally retracted a defamatory article on PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa which was published four years ago.
The retraction was published in the paper's Sunday edition Mingguan Malaysia today, as part of a settlement agreement with Husam over his defamation suit against the daily.
"We hereby retract those words that were complained about in the article and express our regret over its publication," the retraction note read.
The daily had published the article in question, entitled "Menilai hujah Husam" (Evaluating Husam's argument), on May 31, 2009.
Husam had, in his suit, claimed that the article, published in the daily in the run-up to the party elections, gave the impression that he was not loyal to the party and its ideals and hence, deemed not trustworthy.
He alleged that the article also gave the impression that he intended to endanger PAS interests, and was seen as an enemy within the party. - 22 September, 2013.
